What are the entry requirements?

City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2026 (2382-26)

There are no pre-requisite requirements for this qualification, however, all candidates must be over 18 years old.

This course is primarily aimed at practising electricians, however, it is also very popular with allied professionals such as contracts managers, designers, electrical engineers, consultants, surveyors, and other related trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations.

What's covered?

This course has recently been updated to include Amendment 4 released April 2026.

The course is structured as follows:

  • 2 and a half days in-centre including learning and mock exams
  • 2 hour final exam booked to take place on the third day

Important Update – BS 7671 (18th Edition) Amendments

This course has been fully updated to reflect Amendment 4 of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), ensuring learners are trained in line with the most current regulatory requirements.

Between April 2026 and June 2026, candidates will have a transition period during which they may sit either version of the City & Guilds online assessment, depending on their preference:

  • The existing online test 2382‑22
  • The new Amendment 4 aligned online test 2382‑26

From June 2026, the 2382‑26 online test aligned to Amendment 4 will become the standard assessment option and will be the only exam available moving forward.

C&G 2382 26

Course Assessments

You will complete a 2‑hour online multiple‑choice examination, typically taken on the final day of the course. The assessment is the City & Guilds 2382‑26 exam, aligned to Amendment 4 of the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

The exam is open book, and you must bring a copy of the current BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations into the assessment. With an average of around 2 minutes per question, a thorough working knowledge of the regulations and the ability to quickly navigate the book is essential.

Please note that photographic ID (such as a passport or driving licence) is required in order to sit the assessment.
