BPEC Electrical Energy (Battery) Storage Course

This course aims to provide practising electricians with the skills and knowledge required to install small-scale electrical energy (battery) storage systems.

The course has been structured to meet the requirements of dedicated electrical energy storage systems (EESS) in accordance with the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems and the MCS Battery Standards MIS 3012.

We strongly recommend candidates undertake training in Solar PV before attending this course.

What Will I Learn On This Course?

This 2 day course covers design, installation and maintenance of electrical energy (battery) storage systems for domestic premises. We strongly recommend you complete the BPEC Solar PV course before attending this course. This qualification is valid for 5 years and must be refreshed.

You will need to bring with you evidence of your qualifications when you attend your training centre or you may not be able to continue your training.

If booking the course via telephone

To be eligible for this course you must meet one of the following requirements:

N/SVQ Installing Electrical Systems and Equipment Buildings, Structures and the Environment or Electrotechnical Technology and BS 7671: 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition) qualification.

Or

Equivalent historical qualifications

Or

Current ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card

Stand-alone technical certificates/vocationally related qualifications (VRQ) (non-competency based) are NOT acceptable.

If you wish to book this course online you must have one of the following qualifications or ECS cards. If you do not have any of the following but believe you meet the requirements for this course, contact our course advisors to check your eligibility.

Current ECS Gold Card for:

  • Installation Electrician
  • Maintenance Electrician
  • Domestic Electrician

Or

Any of the following qualifications plus 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification:

  • C&G 5393 Electrotechnical in Dwellings
  • C&G 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical (installation or maintenance
  • C&G 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing  Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (buildings, structures and the environment)
  • C&G 2346 Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification
  • C&G 2347 Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification

You may wish to purchase the following Code of Practice. This is not mandatory but you could find it helpful to your studies:

You must bring the following items on the first day of your course
  • Passport size photographs (x2)
  • Basic stationery (Pen, pencil, ruler)
  • A calculator
  • Evidence of qualifications held or current ECS Gold Card (see entry requirements)

This course contains multiple-choice assessments and practical assessments including:

  • 1 x Multi-choice Question Paper
  • Practical Assessment

Please note that you must bring photographic ID such as a passport or driving license with you in order to sit the assessments on this course.
