Snapshot

2 Day practical and theory course covering fire alarm installation and regulations which is a useful addition to your skills portfolio and another lucrative revenue stream for the jobbing contractor. This two day fire alarms course is based upon safety standards BS 5839:1, BS 5839:6.

Why take this course?

Who, What, Why?

As a contractor you’re called upon to fit a fire alarm system into a building, whether domestic or commercial, it will be necessary to install the equipment correctly and make sure the system will is designed correctly and effective. Due to the nature of what’s involved, there’s a little bit more to it than reading the instructions on the box, especially when your reputation is on the line. Do it competently and with confidence with the help of proper training on this course.

The course provides the necessary information to design, construct and commission a non-addressable fire alarm system to BS 5839.

Who is this course for?

Existing Electrical Installers Only

This short course for those with electrical installation experience is designed to give you the ability and skills to install, Inspect & Test and fault find commonly used fire alarm systems.

Fire Alarm Course Content

Topics covered include:

The first day of the fire alarms training course is spent reading through and interpreting the relevant parts of BS 5839.

The second day takes the form of a practical workshop where a system is designed, constructed and inspected and tested. The participant is then introduced to the practical issues of system maintenance, certification and reporting.

In general, it is appropriate to install some form of fire alarm system in virtually all buildings, except very small relatively open planned buildings. The initiation of alarm can be either manual or automatic, or a combination of both, as is usually the case.

The level of cover required by a building is based upon a fire risk assessment and a suitable system selected to meet this need.

How is this course delivered?

In Centre Course

Due to the equipment needed, the fire alarms training course is delivered from our main training centres. The five days covers practical sessions, theory sessions with exams and assessments taking place on the last day.
