Skills Bootcamps – Beginner Courses

Skills Bootcamps are funded, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks for adults aged 19 or over.

Skills Bootcamps provide quality training, allowing people to develop entry level electrical knowledge and skills as strong foundation to progress towards full qualification programmes or/and apprenticeships in the electrical sector.

Our commitment to skills development through Skills Bootcamps enables individuals to understand pathways into the industry – including apprenticeships and providing them with a platform for job entry

Skills Bootcamps – Qualified Electrician Courses

Skills Bootcamps are funded, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks for adults aged 19 or over.

Skills Bootcamps provide quality training, allowing qualified electricians to develop the green technologies skills they need to operate safely in the green energy economy. Our programmes support electricians to gain qualifications with the ElectricianPlus kitemark, so they can demonstrate their occupational currency to customers and employers.

Our commitment to skills development through Skills Bootcamps enables electricians to demonstrate their commitment towards the UK transition towards a net zero energy sector though continuous skills development.

Criteria

The key thing is that the training must have a positive impact on you or your staff’s job role. This is usually in the form of one of the following:

  • Offer of a new job or an apprenticeship
  • A new or enhanced role
  • The company obtaining new opportunities/contracts
  • New responsibilities
  • Increased pay as a result of the training

What if you are self-employed?

If you are self-employed you could still be eligible for funding if you can show that you will be able to take on new work or offer a new service once trained. If in doubt please fill out an application form and we will call you to discuss the options.

You may be eligible to apply for a Skills Bootcamp if you:

  • are aged 19 or over
  • have the right to work in the UK
  • live in England
  • meet residency requirements – the training provider can check this
  • by doing the bootcamp, must create more work or opportunity for the candidate within that business

If you claim Universal Credit, you can apply and continue to claim benefits.

Some Skills Bootcamps have additional eligibility criteria. Contact the training provider to check if you’re eligible and apply for the course.

Closure of Options Skills

Skills Bootcamps

We are aware of the closure of Options Skills (an Electrical training provider) and the adverse effect this closure has had on learners, who now must find alternative means to complete their electrical training and achieve qualifications.

While we may not be able to support all impacted learners, we hope that current and upcoming Skills Bootcamp packages may be a viable and suitable alternative for some learners to complete their training and qualification(s). Learner eligibility applies in accordance with DfE rules.

At City & Guilds Training we offer a range of government funded Skills Bootcamp packages designed to support learners to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electrotechnology sector.

Learners can contact City & Guilds Training on 0800 856 4448 and our advisors will be delighted to discuss what funded options may be available.
