Why do we PAT Test?
The Code of Practice says “Electric shock can kill or cause serious injury and this is one of the hazards that electrical safety legislation is intended to protect against.”
The Electricity at Work regulations is statutory, which means it is required by law. Regulation 4 states “As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger.” Equipment in the work place being used on a daily basis can deteriorate over time and could become dangerous, regular visual checks and testing at regular intervals abides the legislation and prevents serious injury by reducing the danger.
